Cory Hanson is in his second season as a defensive graduate assistant for the Gophers. He transitioned to this role after two seasons as an assistant recruiting coordinator.
Hanson, a native of Minneapolis, played linebacker for Northern Illinois and was a four-time letterwinner. He was a captain under Jerry Kill during the 2008 and 2009 seasons and also represented the football team on NIU's Student Athlete Advising Council (SAAC).
Following his playing career, Hanson was an intern coach for the Northern Illinois defense during the 2011 season. He was responsible for coordinating the scout team offense and preparing the starting defense for weekly opponents.
Hanson earned two degrees at Northern Illinois University. His 2009 bachelor's degree was in organizational/corporate communications, and his 2011 master's was in counseling, adult and higher education.
