Daniel Ifft joined the Minnesota staff in June 2017. He was a recruiting assistant during the 2017 season, but has served as the team's director of football operations since 2018.
Ifft oversees the day-to-day operation of the department, coordinates all game-related travel, is a liaison with athletic administration and works closely with Coach Fleck and the staff on all football-related matters.
Ifft came to Minnesota from the private sector, but was previously a member of the football staffs at Michigan and Toldeo. He was also a four-year letterwinner at Ball State.
Ifft was a recruiting assistant at Michigan from 2013-15 and assisted in all phases of recruiting from prospecting to signing day. He managed incoming prospect videos, communicated with high school coaches, developed recruiting materials and planned official and unofficial visits. He also created and maintained the team’s recruiting calendar and worked closely with the compliance office and academics. Ifft also facilitated the walk-on program and worked with transfers.
Ifft was an offensive graduate assistant from 2011-12 at Toledo and assisted in recruiting. He was also the interim director of football operations from February 2013 to April 2013.
Ifft earned his degree in communication studies in May 2011 from Ball State and his master’s degree in administration from Toledo in 2013. He lettered at Ball State from 2007-10 and in 2010 he was honored with the Ball State University Football Coaches Award and the Mark Hayes Senior Inspiration Award.
Ifft and his wife, Katelin, have one son (Elijah).
