Terry Szucs joined the Golden Gopher football staff in 2015. He serves as Minnesota's defensive quality control assistant where he is in charge of opponent scouting, self-scouting, and the day-to-day operations on the defensive side of the ball.

Szucs, who is a longtime acquaintance of Coach Claeys, has nearly 40 years of experience in college football and came to Minnesota from Pittsburg State where he served as the defensive line coach for one year. Prior to him time at Pittsburg State, he spent 18 years at his alma mater Lock Haven University. He was the assistant head coach from 2005-2009 and was also the offensive coordinator (1996-99) and defensive coordinator (2009-2013) at Lock Haven and was the secondary coach, linebacker coach, quarterback coach and offensive line coach at one point as well.

Prior to Lock Haven, Szucs was the head coach at Dodge City Community College and also coached at Washburn University (offensive line coach), Wayne State College (offensive line coach), Westmar College (offensive line coach) and South Dakota State University (graduate assistant offensive line coach).

Szucs was a four-year letterman at Lock Haven and ended his career by being named to the 1975 All-PSAC First Team as an offensive guard.
