Two sport athlete who made his debut on the Gopher Football team as the long snapper • finished 2-3 overall on the year of competition as a Gopher • took fourth at the Flash Open after defeating Darin Wecker of Upper Iowa , 4-0, in the consolation round • competed at the North Country Open, but did not place.

2009-10 • REDSHIRTED:

Went 4-3 in his rookie campaign at 197, competing solely in open meets • tallied one fall and one major decision, and won his last two matches of the season • finished third at the Dragon Open with a 3-1 record, beating Jon Swart of MSU Moorhead 9-6 in the third place match • opened his season and career at the Kaufman-Brand Open, posting a 1-2 mark with his first career win coming by fall against Max Muench of Truman State in 1:10.

HIGH SCHOOL: 2009 graduate of Prescott High School • coached by Jeff Poliak, Greg Kosin and Paul Johnson • three-sport athlete while also participating in the band • all-state as a junior and senior • a three-time state qualifier and two-time state place-winner • as a senior brought a 34-0 record into the state meet • earned All-American honors in both Greco and Folkstyle • off the mat equally as successful, landing on the 'A' Honor Roll for four years, while also garnering high honors all four years of high school • Cadet All-American and FILA Cadet All-American.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 18, 1991 • son of Tom and Janice Filkins • has one younger sister, Katie (14) • majoring in kinesiology with a minor in business • relative of Nick Schoomer who played safety for North Dakota State and in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans.
