2018-19 Senior Season: Academic All-Big Ten • At the Big Ten Championships, took thirteenth in the 1650 free (15:14.20). • Finished fifth in both the 1000 free (9:30.97) and the 400 IM (4:03.78) against Purdue and Northwestern. • At the Iowa Invitational, took fifth in the 400 IM (3:55.22) and third in the 1650 free (15:21.65). • Finished first in the 1000 free (9:18.55) and third in the 400 IM (3:57.12) against Iowa and South Dakota. • Finished first in the 1650 free (15:36.19), third in the 500 free (4:37.24), and fourth in the 200 IM (1:53.01) and the Florida State Dual. • Placed first in the 1000 free (9:24.11), second in the 500 free (4:35.50), and fourth in the 200 IM (1:54.99) at the Wisconsin Dual.

2016-17 Sophomore Season: Academic All-Big Ten • named Hardest Worker by teammates • earned top-15 finishes at the Big Ten Championships: 1650-yard free (15:11.14) and 400-yard IM (3:49.16) • finished with a 4:39.57 in the 500-yard free against Iowa • placed second in the 1000-yard free with a 9:21.49 against North Dakota • earned first place with a 15:43.02 in the 1650-yard free at the Minnesota Invitational • earned two third-place finishes at the Minnesota Invitational: 500-yard free (4:35.37) and 400-yard IM (2:55.61).

2015-16 Freshman Season: Tallied 21 top-five finishes during the regular season • at the 2016 Big Ten Championships, Messner finished 13th in the 1650 free, 15th in the 400 IM and 32nd in the 500 free • finished first in the 1650 free at Hawaii • won the mile race at the 2015 Jean K.
