Megan Van Beusekom joined the Gopher women's hockey coaching staff as the team’s goalie coach for the 2008-09 season. Van Beusekom played collegiately at Princeton from 2000-04. During her tenure with the Tigers, Van Beusekom was a three-time All-Ivy League selection and held a goals against average of 1.91 in her final year, which ranked eighth in the nation. In the Tiger record books, Van Beusekom holds the school record in most wins, 43, and ranks second in career saves (2,072), save percentage (.921) and wins in a season (16). Along with her conference accolades, Van Beusekom also earned the team’s most valuable player honors in 2002 and 2004 and the unsung hero award in 2003. She graduated from Princeton in 2004 with a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology.
 
Following her stint with the Tigers, Van Beusekom played with the Minnesota Whitecaps. Competing in 43 games, she had four shutouts and held a 2.16 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. Van Beusekom is well known within the international circuit. In 2007, she made her first appearance as a member of the U.S. Select Team and was member of two of Team USA’s IIHF World Championship teams, including the 2005 championship team that won the gold medal over Canada. She is currently a member of the 2008-09 USA Hockey Women's National Team Residency Program, training in Blaine, Minn.
 
A native of Loretto, Minn., and a 2000 graduate of Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Van Beusekom married Eric Sweerin in 2006.
