Jeff Forrester will take over the novice team for the Gophers in 2018-19 coming off seven years as an assistant lightweight coach for the men’s rowing team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Forrester competed on the US National Team in 2007, finishing fifth at the World Championships in Munich, Germany. He also spent five seasons competing for Riverside Boat Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and lettered in four seasons while a member of the Rutgers University crew.

Forrester spent nine seasons as a men’s coach at Riverside Boat Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and three seasons as the head coach at Gloucester High School in Virginia. Forrester’s coaching experience also includes a season US Rowing Parateam in 2015, training differently-abled athletes.
 
Forrester graduated from Rutgers in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences and a minor in psychology.
