Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award
• Totaled four appearances as the coxswain in her lone season with the Gophers' novice team
• Raced with the First Novice Eight boat at the 2023 Big Ten Championship May 14
• Competed in all three sessions of the Big Ten Invitational Apr. 7-8 and earned two third-place efforts on the First Novice Eight boat
• Placed third as part of the First Novice Eight boat at the Big Ten & Big 12 Double Dual Apr. 15
• Made her Gophers debut with the Second Novice Eight boat during the Head of the Mississippi Regatta Oct. 1 that finished third

• Daughter of Ken and Pam Tjernlund
• Has a younger brother, Ben
• Is currently working on her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Graduated from the University of Michigan in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics and Cognitive Science with a minor in Music
• Was a four-year member of the Michigan Marching Band playing the piccolo
• Served as the president of a swing dancing club as an undergrad
• Likes to curl up and read and write, nap, paint, listen to music, crochet, and lives for the cozy vibe of fall and winter
• Has visited all five Great Lakes in her life
• Graduated in the top 10 of her class from Oscar A. Carlson High School in Gibraltar, Mich., in 2018
• Earned a total of 14 letters in high school coming in rowing (four), marching band (four), academics (four) and drama/theatre (two)
• Was named the rowing team's varsity MVP in 2017 after being honored as the novice MVP in 2015
• Originally recruited to Minnesota rowing out of high school, but decided to stay closer to home
• Chose the University of Minnesota for grad school because "going through undergrad made me realize that I owed it to myself, both past and present, to come out here and do all of the things I didn't feel ready to four years ago. In so many ways, I feel appreciated and celebrated for who I am and where I've come from, and that's attributed to this incredible community."
