David Thorn is currently serving as an administrative assistant for the University of Minnesota wrestling team. He joins the staff after a two-time All-American career wrestling for the Gophers.

Thorn has always shown exceptional dedication to the sport and his fellow wrestlers, earning the team[apos]s Most Dedicated Wrestler Award as a redshirt freshman in 2010-11. Thorn went 16-13 that season and finished seventh in his first appearance at the Big Ten Championships.

Thorn[apos]s sophomore season was cut a bit short due to injury, but performed well in the matches in which he was able to compete, compiling a 14-2 overall record. He won titles and place second in open meets that season.

He earned his first All-America honor as a junior, finishing the season with 19 wins and a 5-2 record in Big Ten duals. Thorn placed seventh in that year[apos]s NCAA Championships.

As a senior, Thorn had the best season of his career, going 29-8, including a 12-3 record in duals and a 6-2 record in Big Ten duals. Thorn[apos]s nine pins were also a career best. Thorn placed higher than he ever had in the Big Ten Championships (fourth) and NCAA Championships (fifth) in his final season in Maroon and Gold, earning his second All-American nod.
