Started season with a solid 4-1 performance at Daktronics Open that included a pair of pins (11/3) • Recorded two more pins during his 3-2 showing at Bison Open just one week later (11/10) • Pinned Iowa State[apos]s Johnathan Scott in first round of Kaufman-Brand Open • Filled in for an injured Dustin Schlatter throughout the majority of the Big Ten dual season at 149 pounds, recording the first dual win of his career with a 5-4 decision over SDSU[apos]s Jeff Cooley (1/20) • Finished freshman campaign with 10-22 record including 10-15 mark against unranked foes • earned first letter.

Native of Dickinson, N.D. and graduated from Dickinson High School • won his second straight 145-pound state title this past season, compiling a 45-1 overall record • two-time USAW Cadet All-American • earned All-American status with fourth place finish at 2007 U.S. Wrestling Junior Greco-Roman Nationals this past summer • third all-time in career wins at Dickinson High School (N.D.) behind former Gopher brother Marc (#1) and current Gopher brother Jake (#2) • holds the North Dakota state record for pins in a season at 145 lbs.
