A Minnesota native, Tyler Safratowich stayed in his home state to don the Maroon and Gold as a Gophers grappler after winning three state titles in high school. After redshirting his first year on the team, Safratowich was the Gophers starter at either 157 or 165-pounds for the remainder of his career.
Safratowich finished his career as a 2009 All-American with 108 career victories and 23 falls. Safratowich is one of only 47 Gophers with over 100 wins and he sits top-25 when it comes to pinning his opponents. He earned the nickname "Giant Killer" after defeating six top-ten opponents his sophomore season.
