MINNESOTA ADVANCES FOUR IN THE BIG TEN TENNIS SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS

Tom Chicoine defeated Indiana1s Rahman Smiley 6-4, 6-4 and Illinois1 Royce Ramey 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16.

Senior Adam Selkirk defeated Indiana1s Gabriel Montilla 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 and Iowa1s Tom Buetlkofer 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to advance.

Sophomore Jon Svensson defeated Indiana1s Brendan Story 6-1, 62 and Ohio State1s Andrew Carlson 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 to advance.

Sophomore Tyson Parry defeated Illinois1 Nathan Zeder 6-4, 6-3 and Northwestern1s Brad Erickson 6-3, 6-4.

The 1999 Big Ten Singles Championships will continue on Sunday with the round of 16.
