ORLANDO, Fla. - The Minnesota doubles pairing of Siim Troost and Vlad Lobak advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Doubles Tournament after a convincing 6-1, 6-3, straight-set victory over Jim Hendrix and Victor Chaw of Samford.
The Gopher duo set the tone early and often in Monday's contest, earning a first-set victory with a dominant performance, then continuing to maintain the edge in the match after running away with a much-more competitive second set.
Now, the pair will represent the Maroon & Gold against the No. 1 doubles team in the nation, Tim Sandkaulen and Finn Reynolds of Ole Miss, for a second round matchup on Tuesday, May 25 at 5:00pm CT.
Sandkaulken and Reynolds were tested a bit in their first-round contest, but were able to come away with the 6-3, 7-5 victory over the Wake Forest duo of Henri Squire and Eduardo Nava.
