Siim Troost and Vlad Lobak drop heartbreaker in NCAA Quarterfinals

The Gopher pair will end their season with All-American honors.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Minnesota men's tennis doubles pairing of Siim Troost and Vlad Lobak fell in the quarterfinals on Wednesday evening, falling to Pepperdine's Guy Den Ouden and Adrian Oetzbach in a three-set heartbreaker by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (7).

In the first set, both duos traded games to startt, bringing the score to 3-3 before Den Ouden and Oetzbach rallied for a three-game streak to clinch the first set by a score of 6-3.
 
In Set 2, it was Troost and Lobak who were in control for the majority of the set, jumping out to a lead early and taking advantage of the momentum en route to a 6-3 set win for the Gophers.
 
That led to the second straight tiebreaker in as many days for the Minnesota duo, however after a back-and-forth battle throughout the final set, Troost and Lobak ultimately fell 10-7 in the tiebreaker.
 
Siim Troost and Vlad Lobak finish their season with a 12-3 doubles record and a 20-6 overall career record, earning NCAA All-American honors together for the first time in both of their careers.
