The Wildcats won 10 events to five for the Golden Gophers in recording the victory. Senior co-captain T.D. Rowe</ a> led the Gopher effort with a pair of titles in the diving events. Rowe posted a score of 289.20 to win the 1-meter springboard and then tallied 283.58 to capture the title on the 3-meter board.
The Gophers swept the top three places in the 200 butterfly with Jenny Hennen first at 2:01.58, Terri Jashinsky second in 2:02.48 and Andrea Simakova third at 2:03.09. Minnesota also swept the diving competitions. Rachel Degener placed second on both boards with scores of 275.55 on the 1-meter and 262.58 on the 3-meter, while Tracy LaVoi was third on the 1-meter (263.02) and Christina Rinkus third on the 3-meter (261.75).
Other Minnesota winners were Amy Cottrill in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.41 and Terri Jashinsky in the 100 butterfly clocked at 55.36 seconds.
The Gophers host Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 23, at the University Aquatic Center Dorothy L. Sheppard Pool. The meet begins at 2 p.m.
