PHIL LUNDIN HONORED AS BIG TEN COACH OF THE YEAR

w Minnesota head track and field coach Phil Lundin was named Big Ten Coach of the Year after leading the Golden Gopher Men's Track and Field team to their second consecutive Big Ten Outdoor title. It was the first time in school history that the Minnesota track and field team won back-to-back Big Ten titles. It was also the first time that the Golden Gophers brought home five individual champions.

Starting June 2 and continuing through June 5, the Golden Gophers will have six athletes competing at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Boise, Idaho. Staffan Strand and Marc Johannsen will compete in the high jump; Benjamin Jensen and Glenn Lindqvist will compete in the decathlon; Chad Johnson will compete in the 10,000 and Eric Pierce will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase.
