STRAND NAMED TO GTE/CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA TEAM

University of Minnesota junior Staffan Strand was named to the GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America Men's Spring At- Large second team. Strand, a native of Upplands-Vasby, Sweden, currently holds a 3.79 GPA in computer engineering.

Along with prestigious academic credentials, Strand has won six Big Ten high jump titles and just a few weeks ago placed second in the high jump at the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Boise, Idaho. Strand was one of four Big Ten athletes to be named to the academic second team.
