MCKESSOCK FINISHES 9TH AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Sophomore Andrew McKessock finished 9th in the 1,500m run at the NCAA championships Friday, in Durham, North Carolina. The only automatic qualifier for Minnesota this year, McKessock finished with a time of 3:44.55. That bettered Thursday's preliminary time of 3:45.16. McKessock was one of three Golden Gophers at this year's outdoor championships. Senior Eric Pierce competed in the 3,000m steeplechase and junior Tom Gerding ran the 400m. Both were eliminated in the semifinals earlier this week.
