MANKAD ADVANCES TO SEMIFINALS OF BIG TEN SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS

University of Minnesota sophomore Harsh Mankad advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Singles Championships on Sunday night in Ann Arbor, Mich. As the tournament's top seed, Mankad will face seventh- seeded Phil Stolt on Monday morning.
Mankad defeated ninth-seeded Michael Calkins of Illinois, 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 16 and beat sixth-ranked Chris Porter of Ohio State, 7-6 (2), 6-2, to advance to tomorrow's semifinal.
Fellow sophomore Erik Robertson advanced to the round of 16, but was defeated by ninth-seeded Jamie Gresh of Penn State, 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-3. Robertson defeated eighth-seeded Brad Erickson of Northwestern, 4-6, 6- 1, 6-4, on Saturday to advance to the round of 16.
