MANKAD BREEZES INTO FINALS AT INTERCOLLEGIATE INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

IntercollegiaUniversity of Minnesota men's tennis player Harsh Mankad needed just 55 minutes to advance into the finals at the Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Championships near Dallas on Saturday afternoon. He will face Baylor's Benjamin Becker tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

Mankad beat Texas' Jean Simon 6-2, 6-2 and Becker beat fifth-seeded Al Garland of Pepperdine, 7-6 (5), 6-2 to earn trips to tomorrow's final. Mankad is the first Minnesota player to ever reach the championship match at the prestigious event.

Both players have yet to lose a set this week. Mankad, a junior from India, improves to 11-1 this season. Becker, a freshman from Germany, moves to 14-3.
