GOPHER SWIMMERS LEAD MICHIGAN, TRAIL NORTH CAROLINA AT QUAD DUALS

66In the first day of quad dual competition at the University Aquatic Center, Minnesota leads Michigan 104 to 82, while they trail North Carolina 119 to 67. North Carolina is leading Michigan 120 to 66.

The divers led Minnesota in the first day of dual action by taking second, third, fourth and fifth in the 3-meter diving competition. Junior diver Holly Hanneman scored a 262.20 on the event to take second behind Michigan's Tealin Keleman (300.30). Junior Kim Bahmer scored a 255.20 to take second, sophomore Shannon Jackson took third (252.80) and first-year athlete Stacey Truman took fifth (249.10).

Junior Dana Baum swam a season best in the 1000 freestyle (10:06.08) and the 50 (24.21) freestyle, taking third in both events. First-year athlete Paige Gilgan took second in the 200 freestyle, swimming a career best time 1:52.11. Sophomore Megan Moore took third in the 100 backstroke (57.67). Moore's time is a season best for the Gophers.

The Quad Duals continue tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 3 at noon at the University Aquatic Center. The lists of events includes the 400 medley relay, 1-meter diving, 200 freestyle relay, 400 I.M., 100 free, 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 500 free, 200 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay.
