MANKAD UPSETS NO. 3 SEED TO ADVANCE AT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

BroHarsh Mankad picked up a first round win Thursday in men's singles at the Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Championships at the Brookhaven Country Club.

Mankad upset No. 3 seed Oliver Maiberger of San Diego State 7-5, 6-1 in today's first round of men's singles. He'll now face the winner of a match between UCLA's Marcin Matkowski and Mike Yani of Duke in tomorrow's second round at 10 a.m. CT. Mankad, an at-large selection, has had a big fall season. Last month he represented India in its Davis Cup tie against the United States and also reached the semifinals of the Omni Hotels Midwest Region Championships.
