MANKAD CONTINUES RUN AT THE INTERCOLLEGIATE INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Interc A day after upsetting the No. 3 seed, Minnesota men's tennis player Harsh Mankad advanced to the semifinals of the 2001 Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships with a straight-set win over No. 6 Daniel Klementz of Middle Tennessee, 6-4, 6-3. Mankad will face Jean Simon of Texas tomorrow morning. In the other semifinal, Benjamin Becker of Baylor will face the only seeded player left in the field, No. 5 Brandon Wagner of Pepperdine.
Mankad defeated UCLA's Marcin Matkowski, 6-4, 7-6 (5), earlier in the day to advance to the quarterfinal round.
