DUENAS HONORED AS BIG TEN MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Domin University of Minnesota senior Jorge Duenas was named Big Ten Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his performance this past weekend. The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native, was perfect over the weekend, going undefeated at both the No. 2 singles spot and the No. 1 doubles position.

On Sunday in a dual match at 10th-ranked Illinois, Duenas defeated No. 59 Phil Stolt in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. He teamed with Harsh Mankad at the No. 1 doubles spot to upset the nation's top-ranked pair of Graydon Oliver and Amer Delic with an 8-6 decision.

The day before against host Northwestern, Duenas defeated Jackie Jenkins in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, and paired with Mankad to win at the No. 1 doubles spot 8-5.

The Golden Gophers close out the home portion of its schedule on Friday night vs. Iowa. The match will be held at the 98th Street Racquet Club in Bloomington, Minn., and will begin at 6 p.m.
