Gopher Distance Runners Impressive at Sea Ray Relays

Knoxville, Tenn. - Minnesota distance runners led the Gopher men's track & field team at the Sea Ray Relays on the campus of the University of Tennessee earning three top-five performances, while Gopher high jumpers claimed three of the top five positions.
Gopher Luke Mullranin won the Open 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:23.28, while junior Will McComb placed second in the Invitational 5,000-meter run for Minnesota in 14:20.41. Thomas Morgan won the 5,000-meters (14:19.72) running unattached. Minnesota's Andrew McKessock (3:46.00) added a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run, as Dan Wilson won in 3:44.07 for Connecticut.
Josh Paulson took first place in the Open high jump for Minnesota, clearing 6-9. Gophers Kevin Netzer and Scott Berggren tied for third (6-6 _). Chris Dixon and Lynden Reder also performed well in field events for Minnesota. Dixon placed fourth in the triple jump with an effort of 50-11, while Reder placed fifth in the Open Discus with a toss of 164-1.
Mitch Potter placed sixth in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 46.38, while Gopher senior Bob Quade (51.75) placed seventh in a world-class 400-meter hurdle field.
The Sea Ray Relays will conclude Saturday.
