Minnesota Relay Teams Turn in Outstanding Times

Knoxville, Tenn. - Both Minnesota's 4x800 and 4x400-meter relay teams ran extremely well at the 36th Annual Sea Ray Relays on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Saturday afternoon.

The Gopher 4x800 relay of Zach Edmonson, Andrew McKessock, Ryan Ford and Toby Henkels ran a 7:26.47, placing second behind Tennessee's 7:25.45. Last year, Minnesota ran the nation's fourth fastest 4x800 time at the Drake Relays.

After placing fourth at the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Minnesota 4x400 team ran a NCAA provisional time of 3:05.78. All-Americans Andy Wohlin and Mitch Potter, who have ran on three consecutive Gopher All-America 4x400 quartets, teamed with senior Bob Quade and freshman Robb Merritt to place fourth. Tennessee once again took top honors, clocking a 3:02.14.

Minnesota's Lynden Reder placed second in the open hammer throw competition with an effort of 191-0. Matt Pagliasotti won the event with a throw of 207-3.

The Gophers will next be in action when they travel to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Invitational next weekend.
