The highlight of the night for Minnesota fans was a three-set victory by Harsh Mankad over 12th-ranked Amer Delic. Mankad rallied after dropping the first set 6-3. He won the second in a tiebreaker and cruised in the third set winning 6-1.
Aleksey Zharinov and Manuel Lievano claimed the other victories, both in three sets.
In doubles, the fifth-ranked duo of Michael Calkins and Delic clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 win over Mankad and Thomas Haug.
Minnesota falls to 12-6 and 5-3 in the Big Ten, while Illinois improved to 18-6 and 8-0.
