Golden Gopher Men's Tennis Defeats Iowa 5-2

Minnesot The 24th-ranked Golden Gopher men's tennis team (13-6, 6-3) defeated Iowa 5-2 on Saturday morning in Iowa City. Minnesota will close out its regular season tomorrow morning at Wisconsin.

Minnesota claimed the doubles point with two victories in the three matches. Avery Ticer and Aleksey Zharinov improved to 17-4 on the season with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Manuel Lievano and Eric Robertson also prevailed at No. 3 doubles.

Minnesota claimed four wins in the six singles matches, highlighted by Harsh Mankad, the nation's number one singles player. Mankad improved to 22-3 on the season and 7-0 in the league with a 6-4, 6-1 win over No. 92 Stuart Waters. Zharinov won at No. 2 doubles, while Boris Kuharic and Eric Robertson prevailed at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
