McKessock Claims Drake Relays Title

3:48Des Moines, Iowa - Braving a severe weather alert, Andrew McKessock persevered and became a Drake Relays Champion winning the 1,500-meter crown in 3:48.26. The junior from Owen Sound, Ontario, owns the school's second fastest time, clocking a 3:41.39 in 2000.
The Golden Gopher 4x400-meter relay team of Mikael Jakobsson, Bob Quade, Andy Wohlin and Adam Steele capped the Relays with a second place finish behind Baylor. Minnesota clocked a 3:08.93, while the Bears ran a NCAA provisional time of 3:06.73.
Minnesota All-American Toby Henkels ran a 1:52.64 to place fourth in the 800-meter run, behind Indiana's Ryan Huber (1:51.68).
The Minnesota men's distance medley relay team of Ryan Ford, Andy Wiberg, Neil Hanson and Will McComb ran a 9:56.46 to place seventh. Northern Iowa won the event in 9:47.32.
Minnesota will next travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Cardinal Invitational of Friday, May 3.
