Men's Tennis Shuts Down Michigan, Wins 7-0

Senior Thomas Haug and sophomore Avery Ticer earned an 8-6 doubles victory over Michigan's duo of Michael Rubin and Chris Rolf at No. 1 doubles. Haug went on to grab a 6-2, 6-3 straight-set victory at No. 1 singles over Rubin. Manuel Lievano and Clay Estes defeated Anthony Jackson and Chris Shaya at No. 2 doubles 8-6.
In other singles action, junior Aleksey Zharinov claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win over the Wolverines' Anthony Jackson at the No. 2 spot. Fellow junior Chris Wettengel defeated David Anvig 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Senior Eric Robertson won at the No. 6 spot downing Carey Rubin 6-4, 6-1. Lievano and Ticer also claimed straight set victories in their respective singles matches.
Minnesota's lone blemish for the evening was in a marathon doubles match between Wettengel and Zharinov and Vinny Gossain and Anvig of Michigan. Michigan claimed the No. 3 doubles match 7-9.
The Golden Gophers will face Gustavus at Noon on Saturday, March 29 at the Baseline Tennis Center.
