Mikael Jakobsson Advances at World Track Championships

advanGolden Gopher hurdler Mikael Jakobsson, representing his homeland of Sweden, ran a career-best time of 49.40 seconds to advance to the semifinal of the 400-meter hurdles a the IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Paris. Jakobsson will be a senior for the Minnesota track team in 2004.

Gopher teammates Adam Steele and Mitch Potter are also competing in the World Championships as members of the U.S. 4x400-meter relay pool. Competition for that event is scheduled for Aug. 30 and 31.
