Slikaitis and Hehn Advance to Finals of Summer National Championships

Justin Mortimer winning the 800-meter freestyle race, the Maroon and Gold have had five out of six people finish in the top 15.

Terry Silkaitis advanced to the 100 free finals with a time of 51.25, placing him sixth after the preliminaries. He finished the event with a time of 50.79 and a sixth-place showing.

Former Gopher women's swimmer Keri Hehn added a time of 2:34.14 in the 200-meter breaststroke preliminary heat, advancing to the finals. She clocked a time of 2:33.68 in the finals, good enough for fifth place overall.

Alejandro Jacobo and Sean Kelly advanced to the B Final in the 200 breaststroke. Jacobo had a time of 2:18.98 to finish 11th overall, while Kelly posted a time of 2:22.13 for 15th overall.

Katy Coombe finished 41st in the 100 free, while Katie Wind advanced to the C Final and finished 23rd overall in the 200-meter backstroke event. Lucas Peterson added a 49th-place showing the 200 fly.

The Gophers will continue action until the championships conclude on Aug. 7.
