MSD: Gophers Ranked 11th In First CSCAA Coaches Poll

thThe University of Minnesota men's swimming and diving team is ranked 11th in the first College Swim Coaches Association (CSCAA) Poll of the season released this afternoon. The Gophers, which open the regular season Friday at Iowa, are one of seven ranked Big Ten Conference teams.
The Gophers received 113 votes to tie with Tennessee for 11th in the poll. Defending NCAA champion Auburn is ranked first with 198 points, followed by Stanford (189) and Florida (184). No. 4 Michigan is the top ranked Big Ten team with 173 points while Indiana is ninth (135). Other Big Ten ranked teams include Northwestern (13), Purdue (15), Ohio State (20) and Wisconsin (22).
The Gophers were ranked as high as No. 6 last season, their highest ranking in school history. Minnesota won the 2005 Big Ten title, its fourth conference crown in the last four years, and finished 11th at the NCAA Championships.
