Curt Schoenfelder, Adam Schnaible, and Andy Tilstra finished fifth through seventh in the event, respectively, tallying nine points for the Big Ten.

Schoenfelder, who qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional meet last month, marked 186-0, an inch off his season's best effort. Schnaible launched a throw of 185-6, marking a personal-best and also qualifying for regionals. Tilstra threw a personal best as well, marking a distance of 182-4, but just missed qualifying for regionals by two-plus inches.

The Big Ten vs. SEC, Gatorade Classic pits three Big Ten teams (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Penn State) against three SEC schools (Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky) in a conference-scored clash. The meet continues tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. with the long jump.
