Schmidt Finishes 13th On 3-Meter At NCAA Zone Qualifier

Senior John Schmidt finished 13th on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Zone C Qualifying Meet today at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio. Junior Shaun Kennedy also finished 23rd for the Gophers.

Schmidt tallied a 12-dive score of 569.80 to take 13th overall. Schmidt stood 12th after the preliminaries with 298.35 points to qualify for the finals. Indiana's Taylor Roberts took the title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with a score of 677.35. The Hoosiers' Ryan Fagan also qualified for the NCAA meet in second at 671.45.

Kennedy finished 23rd with a preliminaries score of 247.90 and did not qualify for the finals.

The Gopher tandem will compete in the 1-meter event tomorrow and platform competition on Sunday. Fellow teammates Cole Young and Joe Skeate will also compete in the platform competition.
