Cole Young and Drew Brown finished sixth and seventh respectively on the 1-meter springboard on the second day of competition at the Hoosierland Open this evening in Bloomington, Ind. The competition concludes tomorrow with the 10-meter platform competition.

Yound and Brown moved up and down the top eight places throughout the three-list event. Young moved up from eighth place in the prelims after scoring a 273.20 while Brown tallied 285.55 points to sit in sixth. Young made a nice jump to fourth place in the semifinals with a score of 296.55 while Brown slid to eighth with a score of 286.85. Eventually, Young scored a 306.85 in the finals, his best tally of the night, to finish sixth. Brown also posted his best score in the finals, racking up 296.70 points to place seventh. Sophomore Tyler Jepsen finished 23rd overall with a score of 184.65 in the prelims but was unable to advance to the semis.

"Our guys did a great job today," diving coach Jason Baumann said. "Cole did a great job improving on his total score each time. If you take his best list of all three he might have been closer to the top three, but he did some great dives. He just needed to put together one great list, but it was a very strong day. Drew was very consistent. He needs to be a bit sharper, but the changes we have been working on in practice are definitely coming. He needs to clean up his entries but the pieces are all there. I am looking forward to tomorrow and competing on platform for the second time this season. It is a difficult task at the end of a three-day meet and we will see how are divers rise to the challenge tomorrow."

Overall, Indiana's Taylor Roberts finished first in the 25-diver field with a finals score of 358.75 and Pittsburgh's Alex Volovertski took second with 349.25 points.
