Final Brackets Released for 2007 Big Ten Wrestling Championships

Five Golden Gophers Receive First-Round Byes
The final brackets for the 2007 Big Ten Wrestling Championships were announced earlier today. Five Golden Gopher wrestlers received first-round byes while five others will begin competition in the opening round of pigtails.
Top seeds Jayson Ness (125), Manuel Rivera (141) and Dustin Schlatter (149), as well as No. 3 seed Mack Reiter (133) and No. 4 Gabriel Dretsch (174) all received first-round byes. Following is a list of match-ups for the Minnesota wrestlers who will be competing in the opening round.

157 - No. 4 C.P. Schlatter (MINN) vs. Jason Johnstone (OSU)
165 - No. 3 Tyler Safratowich (MINN) vs. Greg Hagel (NU)
184 - No. 2 Roger Kish (MINN) vs. Nick Skinner (PUR)
197 - Yura Malamura (MINN) vs. No. 2 Mike Tamillow (NU)
Hwt - No. 1 Cole Konrad (MINN) vs. Casey White (MICH)
Top-ranked Dustin Schlatter already knows who his quarterfinal match will be against, No. 8 Matt Coughlin (IND), as he also received a first-round bye. At 125, Ness will face the winner of No. 8 seed Brandon Tucker (PUR) and Michael Watts (MICH) in the quarterfinal round. Reiter awaits the winner of No. 6 Andrae Hernandez (IND) and Chris Diehl (MICH) at 133. Rivera will face either No. 8 Justin Chrzanowski (MICH) or Nick Bertucci (PUR), while Dretsch is scheduled to meet the winner of No. 5 Trevor Perry (IND) and John Murphy (MSU).
