#29 Minnesota Falls to #40 Penn State, 5-2

The University of Minnesota men's tennis team (12-6, 2-3) lost a tough match to a strong conference opponent today in Minneapolis. The Gophers lost both matches of this weekend's homestand by score of 5-2.

The Gophers put on a tremendous performance in doubles play, earning quick victories on Nos. 2 and 3 to capture the doubles point.

Penn State took charge in singles play as they won three of the first four matches on Nos. 4, 5 and 6. Minnesota's Raoul Schwark, who is 93rd in the ITA singles rankings, earned the Gophers their first singles point after he won at No. 2 in two sets. Penn State's Michael James, 90th in ITA rankings , won the deciding match at No. 1 against Andres Osorio in two sets.
