Hassan Mead 18th in Olympic Trials 5,000 Meters Semifinals

Minnesota’s Hassan Mead ran a time of 14 minutes, 7.44 seconds in the 5,000-meter run semifinal at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Ore., to finish 18th among the field of 24 competitors. The top 16 runners advanced to Monday’s final.
Former Gopher Andrew Carlson also competed in the 5,000 meters. He finished 21st overall with a time of 14:13.78.
Former Gopher Trent Riter competed in the 800-meter run quarterfinals. Riter posted a time of 1:49.13 but did not advance to the semifinals. Riter’s time ranked 20th overall.
