A stretch of seven straight home matches to round out the month of February begins this weekend for the Minnesota men’s tennis team as the Gophers host Wisconsin-Green Bay and Southern Methodist in a pair of non-conference contests.

Minnesota will take on Wisconsin-Green Bay in its opening match of the homestand on Friday at 3 p.m. and will meet 46th-ranked Southern Methodist on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The Gophers are 3-1 overall after splitting a pair of matches in Kentucky last weekend with a 4-3 loss to Louisville and a 6-1 win over Eastern Kentucky.

Freshman Phillip Arndt has been the Gophers’ hottest player with six straight wins and a 12-4 overall record. Arndt has split time at Nos. 4 and 5 singles and also has a 3-1 doubles record with Ishay Hadash.

Sophomore Sebastian Gallego has won all four of his dual meet matches at No. 3 singles this spring and is 13-4 overall, including 9-1 over his last 10 matches. Tobias Wernet is ranked 75th nationally in singles and is 4-0 at the No. 2 position this spring to run his season mark to 11-3 overall. Wernet and Michael Sicora have teamed for a 7-2 record in doubles.

Wisconsin-Green Bay enters the weekend at 0-4 overall. Minnesota won the only previous meeting between the two schools 7-0 last season. Southern Methodist is 3-3 overall and beat the Gophers 5-2 last season in Dallas. The Mustangs leads the all-time series 8-4. Wisconsin-Green Bay and Southern Methodist will face each other on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The three squads have a common opponent as all have faced DePaul. Minnesota beat the Blue Demons 7-0, while DePaul beat Wisconsin-Green Bay 7-0 and defeated Southern Methodist 5-2.
