Bilankov Featured in Brain Scanning Video

Minnesota men's tennis player Dino Bilankov was featured in a recent video about a brain scanning technique developed by university professor Bin He.

He has developed a brain scanning technique to assist patients with epilepsy. Currently, treating those with seizures involves cutting open the skull and placing tracking devices on the brain. The patient remains in intensive care until another seizure occurs and doctors can pinpoint its origin. He has done research along with the Mayo Clinic to develop an external monitoring device to read brain waves and pinpoint the origin of the seizure.

He has created a tennis-like video game where patients wear the external monitoring device and can control the game through their thoughts. One of the Gopher tennis team's captains this past season, Bilankov was used as a test subject and performed admirably. Check out the video to learn more about He's research and see Bilankov in action. The video was produced by the University of Minnesota News Service.
