Former Gopher Karl Erickson Eighth at USA Meet

Former Golden Gopher All-American Karl Erickson placed eighth in the discus at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. Current Gopher All-American Aaron Studt competed in the shot put on Sunday but fouled all three of his preliminary attempts.

Erickson heaved his best throw, 193 feet, 9 inches, on his first attempt. He advanced to the final but was unable to improve on his mark fouling each of his three attempts in the final round.
