Tough Slate Continues as Gophers Open at Home

Minnesota hopes to rebound after two straight losses as it continues its string of tough matchups this weekend when it returns home to the Baseline Tennis Center to take on 19th-ranked Louisville on Friday, and St. Mary's (Calif.) on Sunday.
Minnesota, ranked 31st nationally, is coming off of tough losses to 16th-ranked Wake Forest, and 41st-ranked Michigan in Lexington, Ky last weekend. In the loss to the Demon Deacons 67th-ranked Sebastian Gallego posted a big win over 41st-ranked Lain Atkinson. They are hoping to get back to their winning ways and continue their success at the Baseline Tennis Center where they went 14-1 last season. Tobias Wernet is currently ranked 55th in the country and is coming off a heartbreaking loss to 50th-ranked Jason Jung of Michigan 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 that saw him hold six match points.
Louisville is coming into the weekend with a 5-0 record, coming off of victories over LSU, and 32nd-ranked Wisconsin last weekend in the ITA Regional Tallahassee, Fla. This will be the third time that Louisville faces Minnesota with the Cardinals leading the series 2-1. The last time they matched up was Feb. 6 last year with Louisville winning 4-3.
The Gophers will also be facing St. Mary's College (Calif.) this weekend. Minnesota has very little history with the Gaels, only facing them once before. The Gophers won that meeting 6-1 that took place on March 15, 2006.
The Gophers will have their hands full with tough competition as Louisville comes in with three ranked players in the top 100. They have the top-ranked player for the weekend with 46th-ranked in Austin Childs. His teammates, Andrew Carter and Simon Childs are ranked 81st and 84th, respectively.
