Gophers Start Spring Season Against Tennessee

The University of Minnesota rowing team kicked off the spring season against Tennessee, today on Lake Loudoun in Knoxville. The Gophers fell in the First and Second Varsity Eight, but earned wins in the Varsity Four events.
The Gophers' Varsity Eight of Linnea Trandem, Cassie Drozynski, Rebekah Brzozowski, Lucy Mulvey, Jenna Schuder, Sarah Graham, Tracy Merth, Teresa Logemann and Rachel Sartor clocked a time of 6:23.2. Tennessee's boat won in 6:13.3
In Second Varsity Eight competition, Tennessee's boat earned a winning time of 6:23.4, while the Gophers clocked a time of 6:31.9. Minnesota's boat contained Sara Baldvins, Michele Peterson, Debbie Brzozowski, Katelyn Nichols, Sarah Krueger, Erika Berg, Alyssa Kast, Megan Lenarz and Becky Kinchen.
Minnesota defeated the Lady Vols in the First Varsity Four. Minnesota's boat of Nicolle Fisher, Kathryn Switalski, Kate Ladell, Christine Cira and Christine Beauparlant cruised to the finish line in 7:13.2. Tennessee was second in 7:24.5, while its second boat came in third in 7:28.7.
The Gophers added another win in the Second Varsity Four. Minnesota's Adriana Gutierrez, Kristin Anderson, Grace Lorig, Brenna Galvin and Elyse Weir won the race in 7:29.4. Tennessee finished second in 7:49.6.
