Minnesota in Eighth After Second Round in Florida

The University of Minnesota dropped back one spot to a tie for eighth place after the second round of the FAU Spring Break Championship at Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach, Florida. Minnesota's second round score of 292 (293-292--585) leaves them 24 strokes behind leader Illinois.
Pacing the Gophers during the second round was newcomer Donald Constable. His second round score of one-under 70 (74-70--144) led the Gophers on Saturday. Constable is currently in a tie for 17th with senior Ben Pisani, who matched his first round score of 72 on Saturday (72-72--144). Sophomore Derek Chang (80-73--153) made the biggest day-to-day improvement, as he locked in a second round 73 to move up into a tie for 68th place. Rounding out the Gopher lineup on Saturday was freshman David Haley (73-77--150) and freshman Erik Van Rooyen (74-78--152). Haley and Van Rooyen are currently in a tie for 52nd and 65th respectively.
All players are still chasing Illinois' Chris DeForest (67-68--135), who currently has a two stroke lead over Iowa's Barret Kelpin.
The final round will begin on Sunday morning at 7:30am local time.
