Studt, Torchia Earn Academic All-District Honors

Aaron Studt and Mike Torchia were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 First Team by a vote of the nation sports information directors. The duo advances to the ballet for Academic All-America honors.
Studt, a senior from Ripon, Wis., is a four-time All-American in the throwing events. During the 2010 indoor season, Studt captured All-America honors and Big Ten titles in both the shot put and weight throw. He is redshirting the outdoor season and will conclude his Gopher track career in 2011. Studt is majoring in business and marketing education.
Torchia, a junior from Rochester, concluded his 2010 season by competing in the NCAA West Preliminary meet in the 5,000-meter run. He placed in the event at both the Big Ten indoor and outdoor championships this season. Torchia earned his first degree, a bachelor’s in biochemistry, in May. He will return to pursue a second degree next year.
