Seniors Sebastian Gallego and Tobias Wernet are both ranked in the Campbell/ITA Preseason Rankings. Gallego is listed at No. 48, while Wernet checks in at No. 71.

Gallego was 20-11 last year and earned team Most Valuable Player honors for the second straight season to become the seventh player to win the award in consecutive years and first since Raoul Schwark in 2006-07. He finished the year ranked 68th in the country as the eighth alternate to the NCAA individual tournament. Gallego was also Minnesota's lone all-Big Ten selection. He went 5-8 against nationally-ranked opponents and faced nine top-50 opponents.

Wernet shared the team lead in victories (20) with Gallego. He had four wins over ranked foes and reached the semifinals of the ITA Regional Championships. The Gophers were 11-2 last year when Wernet won his match and 3-8 when he lost. He went 6-4 in Big Ten matches and is 21-9 in league play for his career.

Gallego and junior Phillip Arndt form the only Minnesota doubles team that was recognized in the national rankings. The duo, who led the Gophers with a 12-9 record last year, is ranked No. 28.

The Golden Gophers begin their fall campaign on Friday, Sept. 24, at the Denver Pioneer Invitational. Minnesota was 14-11 overall last season and 6-4 in Big Ten play.
