16 Gopher Women Earn NCAA Track Berths

The Minnesota women’s track & field team will send 16 student-athletes, including its 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays, to the NCAA West Preliminary Meet at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Ore., on May 26-28. For the second year, the NCAA will begin its qualifying for the outdoor track and field championships with East and West preliminary round sites. The East NCAA Preliminary Meet will be hosted by Indiana, in Bloomington, Ind.
The top 12 individuals and relays from the preliminary rounds will advance to the NCAA Championships, June 8-11 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Golden Gophers earning NCAA Preliminary Rounds berths are:
Alena Brooks – 400m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay
Emily Betz – Javelin
Sharyn Dahl – 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay
Natalie Devine – High Jump
Nyoka Giles – 200m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay
DeAnne Hahn – Hammer
Katie Moraczewski – 3,000m steeplechase
Chimerem Okoroji – 100m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay
Stephanie Price – 10,000m
Samantha Sonnenberg – Pole vault
Nikki Swenson – 1,500m
Kelly Stalpes – 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay
Nikki Tzanakis – Discus
Missa Varpness – 5,000m
Todea-Kay Willis – Long jump, 4x100m relay
Elizabeth Yetzer – 1,500m
