Minnesota sophomore Micah Hegerle lofted the second-best throw of his collegiate career in placing 12th in the hammer at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday. The Gopher men’s 4x400-meter relay was scheduled to compete on Thursday night, but the Championships were suspended due to weather at 8:30 p.m.
Hegerle, from Dodge Center, Minn., landed a throw of 211 feet, 11 inches on his first throw of the trials. Earlier this season, Hegerle marked a throw of 212-9, the second-best effort in Gopher history in the event.
The Gophers will find out early Friday morning what time the 4x400m relay will be contested.
