Minnesota Wraps up Indoor Season at NCAA Championships

The eighth ranked Minnesota men's track and field team closed out the 2012 indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Gophers picked up All-American honors in all three events today in which a Golden Gopher competed in.
"The guys who competed for us today all scored points for the team and made All-American," head coach Steve Plasencia said. "Scoring points in an NCAA championship is never an easy task."
Micah Hegerle improved one spot better than a year ago in the finals of the weight throw. He finished seventh with a toss of 68-1 ½ (20.76m). The junior and 2012 Big Ten Champion, adds another All-American accolade to his records.
David Pachuta ran to a sixth place finish in the finals of the 800 meters. Pachuta earned his All-American status with a time of 1:49.52.
In the final event of the championships, the 4x400 relay team of Kevin Bradley, John Holton, Pachuta and Harun Abda clocked in at 3:07.74 to finish sixth overall. The sixth place finish earned the group All-American honors.
Minnesota finished the championships tied for 18th place (Duke, Syracuse and Tulsa) with 10 points. Florida (52) edged out Arkansas (47) for their third straight title.
